Five aspiring CPAs representing four Indiana universities were selected for this year’s Indiana CPA Educational Foundation Scholarship, receiving a total of $8,500 for this program year.

Scholarship recipients are: Alexis Bergman, sophomore — Grace College; Alejandra Ruesga Garcia, sophomore — Marian University; Madison Mesplay, senior — Valparaiso University; Brian Richie, junior — Indiana University, and Kenneth Villacorta, graduate student — Indiana University. Ruesga Garcia graduated from the INCPAS Scholars’ year-long career awareness and mentoring program in 2020.

This scholarship program provides financial assistance to Indiana CPA Society (INCPAS) student members pursuing their accounting major and ultimate entry into the CPA profession.  Scholarships are $1,000–$2,000 per year and renewable for up to $5,000 total per recipient, dependent on recipient meeting the renewal criteria. The Educational Foundation is supported by Society members giving back to the profession and investing in the next generation of CPA professionals.

“We’re so proud of all the students who applied,” said INCPAS President & CEO Jennifer Briggs, CAE. “It was amazing to see how many of these students are pursuing a CPA license because they recognize the value it can bring to community service and entrepreneurship.”
